PowerTech 2025

From April 2 to 4, 2025, the international exhibition and conference PowerTech 2025 is taking place in Almaty, serving as a dialogue platform for discussions on decarbonization, renewable energy development, and energy efficiency in Central Asia.

On April 3, as part of the business program, a session titled “Overview of the Renewable Energy Market in Central Asia” was held, moderated by Ramazan Zhanpiisov, Advisor to the General Director of the ECOJER Association.

Zhomart Mominbayev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TechnoGroupService LLP, was invited as a speaker and presented on the topic “Development of Renewable Energy and Domestic Manufacturing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.” In his speech, he outlined current priorities in the sector, emphasizing the importance of strengthening national capabilities in renewable energy equipment manufacturing, enhancing export potential, and focusing the support measures of Baiterek National Managing Holding JSC on renewable energy projects that use domestically produced generation equipment.

Other speakers included: Igor Novikov, Director and Head for Central Asia at Cranmore Partners; Yerlan Akhmettayev, Senior Research Analyst at the S&P Global "Eurasian Energy" team; Ruslan Sadgalin, Project Manager at Ernst & Young; Vladimir Zavadskiy, Senior Energy Expert at CAREC Institute; and Dias Bayseitov, Founder of KunTech.

Participation in PowerTech 2025 allowed TechnoGroupService LLP to present its vision for sustainable development and localization in the renewable energy sector, while also highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in achieving common climate goals. Zhomart Mominbayev also proposed using the abbreviation I-REC.KZ to refer to voluntary certificates from renewable energy sources that use domestically manufactured generation equipment.

Digital Almaty 2025

From January 31 to February 1, 2025, Almaty hosted the VII International Digital Forum, Digital Almaty 2025, bringing together over 40,000 participants, including more than 200 speakers and thought leaders from various countries. The main theme of the forum was "Industrial AI: Technologies of a New Era", with a focus on the integration of artificial intelligence into industry, finance, healthcare, and education.

Digital Almaty has traditionally been the largest platform in Central Asia for discussing digital solutions and government IT strategies. This year, the forum gathered over 40,000 attendees, including representatives of international technology companies, venture capital funds, government agencies, and industry experts.

As part of the forum, TechnoGroupService LLP presented InTech-Forecast—an AI-powered platform for forecasting electricity generation at renewable energy facilities. Based on meteorological data analysis, solar and wind activity, the platform provides highly accurate forecasts, enabling optimal energy management and production predictions for more than three days ahead.

Over the two-day event, the InTech-Forecast booth attracted significant interest among forum participants. Representatives of the company conducted six interviews with leading media outlets, highlighting the technology’s potential for Kazakhstan’s energy sector and beyond.

Participation in such forums plays a key role in promoting innovative solutions and strengthening the position of renewable energy in the global agenda.

Saiga Antelopes at the SPP

In January of this year, a herd of saiga antelopes was spotted grazing on the grounds of the 10 MW "Kengir" solar power plant, located near Zhezkazgan. This moment highlights the ecological value of the project and its alignment with the principles of sustainable development.

Saiga Antelopes: A Story of Recovery

In the early 2000s, saiga antelopes were on the brink of extinction and were listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book of endangered species. Thanks to the Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative—a finalist for the prestigious Earthshot Prize established by Prince William—their population has surged to 2.86 million by 2023. This remarkable recovery is one of the greatest success stories in wildlife conservation. The Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative operates in partnership with the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan (ACBK) and the Committee for Forestry and Wildlife.

Harmony Between Green Energy and Nature

The "Kengir" solar power plant is not only a source of clean energy but also a prime example of how green technologies can coexist in harmony with nature. The presence of saiga antelopes on the plant’s grounds demonstrates that environmentally responsible projects support biodiversity and contribute to the preservation of the region’s unique wildlife.
